Window Well & Basement Window Solutions from
Dino & Rocco's Balesano Waterproofing LLC

What is a Window Well?

A window well is a curved steel structure installed below grade level in front of a basement window. Its main function is to prevent soil from pressing directly against the basement window, causing cracking, bowing or breaking.  However, while window wells are essential for basement ventilation and light, they can sometimes flood after heavy rain or melting snow. When this happens, water may seep through the basement window, leading to potential water damage.

The good news? At Dino & Rocco’s Balesano Waterproofing, we offer reliable solutions to home and business owners in Connecticut, keeping your basement dry and safe if your window well is leaking.  Below are a few solutions:

Dino & Rocco’s Balesano Waterproofing & Masonry LLC

Option 1: Install a 4-Inch Pipe to Divert Water

We can install a 4-inch pipe in the window well that channels water to a low point in your yard, ensuring that water doesn’t accumulate around your basement window.

Option 2: Set a Drain to Connect to Your Basement’s Drainage System

For a more integrated solution, we can set a drain in the window well that connects to your existing or new basement perimeter drainage system/French Drain. This system will direct excess water away from the basement, preventing potential flooding.

Option 3: Remove the Window Well and Block the Window Opening

In extreme cases, we may recommend removing the window well altogether. We’ll block the window opening with solid concrete block and brick, waterproof the exterior, and fill the hole to grade level with topsoil.

Additionally, we can install a window well cover to reduce light debris and water from entering. Let Dino & Rocco’s Balesano Waterproofing help you find the best window well cover for your needs.
